The 737, which is Boeing’s most popular jet, is already in use at Alaska Airlines. Some 26 MD-80 jets will be retired as the company takes 39 of the 737-800 model through 2008. Alaska also has options and commitments for more 737s.

European Black List

posted by Ben in News  — permalink

This week, European legislators will come together to decide about the definitive blacklist of airlines that will be banned from the European airspace. The list should then become effective by the end of this month.

The blacklist will detail the identity of airlines that will be banned from European Airspace. It will be published on the internet and in the EU’s official record.

A senior source in the EC: “There will be a real right to defence for airlines. They can be represented by a lawyer and can also request to be assisted by the national aviation authorities of the country where they are certificated.”

Very recommended to anyone who wants to see what it is like to run an airline! If you are just starting, choose the B1900D over the Jetstream. The 1900d has more range and is faster. My airine is Deutsche Skyways. I, for one, think it is a very fun sim. Go and check it out at airlineempires.net

Lufthansa Interested in 747-800

posted by Ben in News  — permalink

Luftthansa is interested in 747-800. I believe LH will be the first PAX operator if they go ahead. Click here to see pictures of the proposed interior. It looks pretty nice (IF YOU PAY ALOT). Usually these pictures only show first and buisness accomodations. dft Even in the A380 and 747-8 economy class conditions are due to be dft crowded.

Jetphotos.net

Jetphotos.net is an aviation photography website with free membership. There is a paid membership, however, and one of the advantages is that they PAY ATTENTION to you. I have a free membership. I fired off an email to the admin two weeks ago, regarding making some of my photos ‘hot’ and putting them on the news scroller, and have NOT gotten a response. Even if they are not able to put the photos on the scroller, any response at all would be welcome. When I got my main membership, about three months ago, I also applied for a Forum membership. To get into the forum, you have to get ‘activated’ by the forum moderaters. I have not been activated yet and therefore, can not post about my problem on the forums. They have some nice photos and they are free, but the need to think about their members more often! Click Here to see the pictures I have there.

UPS formally orders 10 A380s

Can’t wait for the freighter’s first flight!

PARIS, Dec 13 (Reuters) - United Parcel Service has formally signed an order for 10 Airbus A380 superjumbo jets provisionally announced in January, the European planemaker said on Tuesday. Deliveries are scheduled between 2009 and 2012. UPS, the world’s largest package delivery company, has not yet made its choice of engine, Airbus said. Airbus says it has firm orders for 159 of the aircraft, which are due to enter passenger service in late 2006. These include 27 freighter orders. The main version of the plane is often described as a doubledecker because of the passenger layout but it actually has three decks including the lower cargo hold. The A380 freighter version ordered by UPS will hold up to 330,000 pounds on three decks with a volume of 40,000 cubic feet.

First Post and Introduction

This is my first post on the Plane Crazy blog. I am Ben Remy, a student pilot who takes lessons at Jeffco airport (Kilo Bravo Juliet Charlie). I only have about 4 hours loggable (so far :) ). My last flight was in a Cessna 152. Previous unloggable flights included a few times in a Bonanza, Beaver, and a Cessna 185. I’ve been an aviation enthusiast as far back as I can remember. Keep checking here for future posts. Post a comment to tell me you’ve been here!
